Help needed for target connection

I am interested in purchasing the Data Uploader for Salesforce and have downloaded the free trial. I am having one slight issue. The license has downloaded with no problems, the source connection is also loading with no issue (an .xls file), but I get the following error message when I try to set up the target connection:

Login: error sf:API_DISABLED_FOR_ORG (API_DISABLED_FOR_ORG: API is not enabled for this Organization or Partner)

Please help!

The DataTools products that connect to Salesforce.com can connect only to the editions of SFDC that include their API. The error message indicates that you may be using an edition of Salesforce.com that does not include the API.

Please let us know if you believe your edition of SFDC includes the API.
