Error Obtaining License File

I have installed the DataTools product, and after entering my user id and password I get the following error message when it tries to to get the license file from the Pervasive e-commerce web site.

Error: Failed opening socket for address:64.132.13.11:443

(WSAErrorCode=10060)(WebServiceGetLicenses)

Can you help?

Windows Firewall Configuration

The most likely cause of this error is Windows Firewall since it is automatically installed on all Windows workstation versions from XP SP2 and above. Most workstation firewalls will block all applications from opening connections unless explicit permission is granted.

The DataTools Launcher will need to be granted access through the Windows Firewall. You can add exceptions to the Windows Firewall rules by following these steps:

1. Open the Windows Firewall selection in the Windows Control Panel.

2. Verify that the Firewall is turned ON. If it is, continue with the next 4 steps.

3. Click on the "Exceptions" tab.

4. Click on the "Add Program" button.

5. Locate the "DataTools" program in the list, highlight it, and click the "OK" button.

6. Close the Windows Firewall window by clicking the "OK" button again.

If the Windows Firewall is not turned ON, you may need to contact your network administrator, and/or let us know if this does not solve the license file access problem.
