InstallShield error installing Data Tools

On installing the trial version on Win XP SP2, I got an error box:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be installed.
The system cannot find the file specified.

The install finished, but when I run Data Tools, Windows complains it can't find LicenseManager.exe

What can I do?
Thanks.

Are you running a non-English version of Windows XP?

RE: InstallShield error installing Data Tools

Hi shuston,

This error is usually an indication that you are trying to install on a machine to which you are not logged in with FULL administrator rights. Please let me know if that is not the case.

In addition, now that you have a partial installation, you will need to follow the steps in the Solving Installation Problems knowledge base article on our web site to perform a clean un-/ re-install.

InstallShield Error Solution

When InstallShield installation issues occur, it is recommended that you use the latest InstallShield installation engine. Details and a link to the IkernelUpdate.exe file download can be found at this URL on InstallShield's web site:

http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108312

Also, after installing the new InstallShield engine, be sure to follow the steps in our knowledge base article entitled Solving Installation Problems to un-install the partial DataTools installation and install fresh.

Please let me know if this works for you...or not!
