Hi,

We need to decommison an old NT box and archve a Pervasive database and migrate the data to MSSQL 2k5. What tools do we require and if its just a one off export what sort of licence do we need to buy?

RE: Pervasive.SQL v8 to SQL Server 2005

Hi jptocker,

To do a one-time data migration from Pervasive.SQL v8 to SQL Server 2005, you can "purchase" (still free for a limited time) a subscription for the Data UpLoader to MS SQL Server.

The Data UpLoader to MS SQL Server includes a connector for Pervasive.SQL v8 on the "source side" and, of course, a connector for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on the "target side".

As for the type of license, the Data UpLoader to MS SQL Server is currently available only as a free 90-day license subscription. So you can download it at no charge today, and use it for 90 days until the subscription expires. If you can finish your data migration project within 90 days, you've had the advantage of using one of the best data migration tools in the world FREE!

But remember, the free offer will expire at some point in time -- probably around March 15, 2008 -- so if you still need the Data UpLoader to MS SQL Server after the free subscription expires, you will likely need to purchase another subscription. Paid subscriptions will be available for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months.

Please let us know if you need additional information.
