DataPerfect Support

I have a project that requires extracting all of the data from a DataPerfect database so that it can be imported into MS SQL Server. I would be satisfied just being able to retrieve the data into a delimited text file, so I can work with it there. I saw that you support DataPerfect, and I tried the viewer to see if it would read the file. I was unable to determine which connector to use though. Can you recommend the product that I need to accomplish this?

RE: DataPerfect Support

Hi heath007,

There are multiple methods of converting data from DataPerfect to another application, database, or data file format. The various methods are discussed on the Application Solutions page of the DataTools web site.

The two most common methods are as follows:

  • Extract Data from a Print File - Create a report in DataPerfect and print the report to a file (rather than to a printer). Use the Data Extractor for Unstructured Text to extract the useful data from the report file and export the data to a CSV text file.
  • For this option, you may also need the Data UpLoader to your target application or database to map and convert the data from the CSV file to your target.

  • Connect to a CSV Text File - Export the data from DataPerfect to a Delimited ASCII text file. Use the Data DownLoader from CSV Text to read the source data file and map and convert the data to any of the supported target application, database, and data file formats.
  • For this option, the Data DownLoader from CSV may be the only DataTools product you would need because it includes the ability to map and convert the CSV data directly to dozens of targets.
