License Manager not found

I had tested the trial version of the Btrieve Data Parser for 2 days and everything worked fine, so today my boss purchased the full version.
After that I've tried to connect the Data Tools to the web service using his account, to acquire the new license, but I got a "incorrect passord" error message all 3 times. I've un-installed the Data Tools and re-installed, in the hope that that would fix the problem. Unfortunately that made it worse, now when I try to run the Data Tools I'm getting an eror message telling me the shortcut to the file LicenseManager.exe is not valid, and asking me to manually locate LicenseManager.exe. I've tried that, but there's no trace of that file. Even worse, when trying to un-install and re-install the Data Tools, it doesn't even show up as an installed software, in the Control Panel.
Is there a way to repair the Data Tools installation? or to get my hands on that LicenseManager.exe, in the hope this would solve the problem?
Thanks.

RE: License Manager not found

Hi cmihai,

Follow the steps in the knowledge base article on the DataTools web site entitled Solving Installation Problems to do a "clean" un-install and re-install. Be sure to do ALL the steps.

After DataTools is re-installed, when prompted to enter a user ID and password, enter the login credentials necessary to obtain the purchased license (rather than the login to obtain the trial license).

Let us know if this does not solve the problem for you.

Invalid password?

Hi Jo,
Thank you for the instructions, they did the trick with teh License Manager (I hadn't found those instructions for a clean re-install on the web-site).
Anyway, my basic problem still persists: when I run the Data Tools, the License Manager still sees my license for the trial version - that's fine.
Then I'm doing what you've advised me: I'm trying to connect to the License Web Service using the account used to purchase the full version (on the menu bar -> Preferences -> Connection Settings...), so I can use the purchased license. But I'm always getting the "The password provided is invalid" error message, and then there's that "License Web Service Login" popup showing up. I've verified several times the password: I can successfully login on the web site, but the License Manager doesn't seem to get through using it.
Can you please try to see what the problem might be ?
Thanks.

RE: Invalid password

Hi cmihai,

Sorry you are having difficulty. I am checking to see why you cannot access the web service with the "purchaser" login, and I will post here as soon as possible.

Invalid password?

Not sure if this helps, but the account under which the full license was purchased has 8 characters and starts with atal.
Thank you Jo.

RE: Invalid password

Hi cmihai,

Are you on the same workstation when logging into the DataTools web site as when you are using the DataTools product?

- Jo

invalid password (cont.)

... and here is the proof the user ID and passwords are valid: right now I'm logged in here as atalpash.

Thanks,
Colin

RE: invalid password (cont.)

Hi Colin,

Have you changed your username and/or password on the DataTools web site either at the time of your purchase or after your purchase?

- Jo

invalid password

Hi Jo,
Yes, I am.
I'm using the Data Tools installation that came with trial version. From there I'm changing the Connection Settings (the "Preferences" menu tab of the Data Tools) but after entering the user ID and password of the account that's been used to purchase the full version license, I'm getting the "The password provided is invalid" popup.
Again, the username and password of the account used to purchase the full version work fine when logging on here, on the web site (actually I'll use that account next time I'm using this forum thread).
Thanks.

invalid password

Hi Jo,

I haven't changed them, I can still log in under my cmihai account (on the website). I can also log in on the web site as atalpash (this is the account used to purchase the full version license).

I've even uninstalled completely the Data Tools and the Pervasive DB Engine, then re-installed them and tried to launch them as atalpash (not cmihai), but still with no success - I've gotten the "Password invalid..." error message all the time.

Jo, please try to get to the bottom of this, I'm getting very close to the deadline - I need to be able to finish this data conversion before Wednesday.

Thanks.
Colin
