Data Fields and Regular Expressions

Is there a better explaination of the use of regular expressions in data field definitions? I'm having trouble writing the expressions for locating data by the format of the data. this is particualrly true for numeric and date.

Also, explain a logical OR for the expressions? I.E. need to find a date field which could be in the format nn/nn/nn OR nn-nn-nn and so forth.

The online documentation for the Data Extractor is a work-in-progress. I will try to create a help topic today with details on using regular expressions to write a "mask" to identify data fields.
