converting to .csv
I am testing the Parser for the first time and found that it doesn't save the btr files to .csv as per my expectations. We use Pervasive 2000i in our environment.
Here is how I connect the Parser:
Factory Connections: Btrieve v7 (it doesn't give me option for v2000i)
Source File: M:\test\btr\RAWINVEN.BTR
The Browser sees all records in one field. (??)
After I click on "Run Map", it allows me to export to ASCII or Unicode but it doesn't separate fields by comma.
Am I doing something wrong?

RE: converting to .csv
Hi bimmer5,
The DataTools Parsers cannot "autoparse" data files that contain insufficient metadata to define the records and fields without some "help". So you would need to utilize either the built-in dictionary support for reading Btrieve DDFs (if you have them) or define the structure of the file manually in the built-in visual parser in order to parse the records into individual fields (before exporting to .CSV).
Please let us know if that answers your question, or not.

Jo, I have DDFs provided by
Jo,
I have DDFs provided by our vendor (we run a small 4-tier ERP system based on Pervasive SQL 2000i). I am not a developer or anything like that to do anything "fancy" here. How can I "utilize the built-in dictionary support"? Do I require an extensive knowledge to do so? Are there any utilities that can do the job for me?
Thank you for your time and effort to reply to my questions.
Peter
RE: DDFs
Hi Peter,
I will send you a PDF document that includes the steps (with screenshots) to utilize the built-in dictionary support in the Data Parser for Btrieve. Watch for an email with attachment.
Let us know if you need anything else.
