Error in Btrieve Parser - Client Missing
Question:
I get the following error when I try to connect to my Btrieve data file in the Data Parser for Btrieve.
"Connector (Btreive v6) is not available for use. It is either not licensed with the product or the product associated with the connector is not installed or accessible.
Error (25547) setting connector (Btrieve v6) name: Unable to find required Btrieve client installation. This connector requires Btrieve (Pervasive.SQL) client be installed."
Do you have any application(s) on your workstation that use a Btrieve/Pervasive.SQL backend database?
If so, find the installation directory for the Btrieve Engine. Verify that there is a "bin" sub-folder. Add the fully-qualified path to the "bin" directory to the PATH statement in your workstation’s Environment Variables. For example, on my workstation the Pervasive.SQL Workgroup Engine is installed in this folder:
C:\PVSW
There is a "bin" folder at the next level in, so I have the following in my PATH statement:
C:\PVSW\bin
If you do not have a Btrieve or Pervasive.SQL engine already installed on your workstation, you can go to the Pervasive Software corporate web site and download a trial of the Pervasive.SQL Workgroup Engine for Windows. You must register with a valid name and email address so the system can send you the 30-day license key for the Workgroup Engine. Here is the URL to the page from which you must start:
