Hello,
I have a problem, something like others have experienced but still different. I downloaded the dataTools and got a 3-month free license for mySQL. I installed successfully under Vista, opened DataTools, logged in with my user and pass. It found a new license and said it downloaded to the license folder and the license appeared under the Active list, but missing the first few columns up to the SKU. When I try to launch it says "The selected license is not a Pervasive Data Tools license". Now in the license folder I have a .slc file, but when I try to search for it and force DataTools to see it, it doesn't recognize it (looks like an XML inside and has all the details there).
Any ideas?
Error: Failed opening socket for address
Hi
I get the above error (WSAErrorCode:10060) when I launch Data Tools for the first time. It cannot connect to the Pervasive License Web service. I have tried making the changes to the Windows Firewall as suggested on this site; still get the same error.

Hi Charris,
Your license file has been sent to you via email.

RE: License error
Hi austerus,
Couple of questions...and something to try...
Q1: Did the .SLC file get renamed with a .SLC.ARCHIVE extension?
If yes, close DataTools, navigate to the folder where the license file resides, and remove the .ARCHIVE from the filename.
Q2: What is the path to the folder to which the license file was downloaded?
Go into the Preferences dialog box in the DataTools Launcher and set the active license directory to the exact folder where the license file resides.
Please let us know if this resolves the license error, or not.

RE: License error
Unfortunately it doesn't help.
First time I tried, the folder was c:\ProgramData\Pervasive\DataTools\Common800\License (it was the default) second time I changed it to plain d:\ (thinking it couldn't read from the default folder for some reason). Those are the folders where the license files can be found, because that's where the software downloaded them to and the filenames were not modified, the extension was plain .slc
RE: License error
Hi austerus,
Are you running English Windows Vista?
- Jo
Yes
Yes, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64
RE: License error
Hi austerus,
The current version of DataTools does not run on 64-bit Windows Vista. We will support 64-bit Vista in a future release of DataTools, and the System Requirements and Installation Pre-requisites forum page will be updated at that time.
