Solution to Problem with License Files and non-US System Date Format

The following is a workaround for Pervasive DataTools users who experience a problem with license files on a workstation where the Regional date setting is any format except "mm/dd/yyyy".

Problem Description

You download a license file whose expiration date is current/valid, but the license displays in the Inactive tab in the Launcher, and the license file was immediately renamed with a .archive file extension. Some of the license information does not display in the DataTools Launcher grid.

This is a known problem in the current release (v8) of DataTools. There is a workaround (see below). The problem has been fixed and will no longer be an issue with the next DataTools release...possibly in July 2008.

Workaround
  1. Close DataTools, including the Launcher.
  2. Open the Windows Control Panel.
  3. Open Regional and Language Options.
  4. On the Regional Options tab, click the Customize button to the right of the upper dropdown box.
  5. Click on the Date tab.
  6. In the Short Date section, enter "MM/dd/yyyy" (without quotation marks).
  7. In the Date Separator dropdown, select the "/" (forward slash).
  8. You do NOT need to change the Long Date formats.
  9. Click the Apply button.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Back at the Regional Options tab, verify that the Short Date displays today's date in "mm/dd/yyyy" format.
  12. If so, click the Apply button.
  13. Click the OK button to close the Regional and Languare Options dialog box.
  14. Start DataTools.
  15. When prompted, download your DataTools license files. Valid licenses should now appear in the Active tab with information about the license in every column of the grid.
