Have followed all these
Have followed all these insturctions.
Downloaded and installed Java EE SDK
Ran command prompt and checked java - version
Returned:
java version "1.4.2_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_03-b02, mixed mode)
Have no other Pervasive datatools installed.
All environment variables are set as required.
I am in Australia running an english version of Windows XP.
I've changed the regional settings to interpret dates in MM/dd/yyyy format.
I copied the license key you emailed to me into the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Pervasive\DataTools9\Common\License folder.
I am still get the "Err:429, ActiveX component can't create object. Open_Map_Designer(X_LicMgr.bas)" error.
Whats next or is this a lost cause?
RE: Have followed all these
Hi bmwood,
Sorry you are having problems, and thanks for trying all of the known solutions. Let's try a couple of other things -- see below -- to try to resolve the problem...
Disable the license-checking feature in the DataTools Launcher
1. Launch DataTools from the Windows Start Menu.
2. In the DataTools Launcher, click on the Preferences menu.
3. In the Preferences menu, click on Connection Settings.
4. In the Connection Settings dialog box, click to un-check the "Auto connect to license web service at startup" option.
5. Click the OK button to return to the DataTools Launcher window.
6. Close the Launcher.
7. Launch DataTools again to see if the problem is fixed. If it is not, try the following.
Un-install and Re-install DataTools
1. Close DataTools.
2. Follow the steps in the "System Requirements and Installation Pre-requisites" (http://pervasivedatatools.com/node/382) article to make sure everything is pre-configured correctly on your workstation.
3. 2. Follow the instructions in the "HowTo: Resolve Installation Problems" (http://pervasivedatatools.com/node/945) article to UN-INSTALL DataTools and any other Data Junction or Pervasive INTEGRATION (not database) applications on your workstation, and then to RE-INSTALL DataTools.
4. Launch DataTools again to see if the problem is fixed.
Please let us know if this resolves the problem for you, or not.

Seems that did fix the
Seems that did fix the problems thank you Jo.
Just to add though, i did also get into my registry and delete all keys relating to Pervasive as well - just to be sure it worked!

Hi bmwood,
Excellent! Glad you're up and running with DataTools! And thanks for letting us know!
Sometimes a little "housecleaning" in the registry is necessary. We just can't make that recommendation as a general rule! :)
